Internet Marketing – How to Use Squidoo

Most people have heard of Squidoo by now and many of them have already had a bash at setting up a lens or two on there. But not everyone has really grassed the sheer potential of the traffic that you can generate from this site. If you fall into this group, do not worry. Once again it is a question of devoting a little time rather than money into promoting your interests so that you can generate new traffic streams and create a better business as a result.

First off, there are a number of things you most definitely CAN do with this site. You can promote your business on there; you can link to your website; you can make money directly from it; and you can create a presence for yourself and your business that will lead you to find plenty of new visitors and sources of traffic over the coming weeks and months.

I could write a whole report on how to use Squidoo, but for the purposes of this one let me just share some pieces of advice on how to proceed. There is no limit to the number of lenses (web pages) you can have. That means you should not try to cover everything you want to tell people about all in one lens. Be more tightly focused than that. Let's go back to that USB gadgets example to see how this would work.

Let's say you sell around twenty of these gadgets, and each one appeals to a different need that we have. So for example you might have a USB massager that people can use. What you would do is to create a different lens around each different product. You do not have to make it a bland or uninteresting sales page either – in fact you will be better off if you do not make it at all sales like in nature.

Your best approach would be to tell people all about it. By all means pop in some links to your website so people can buy it if they want to, but do not put too many in there. You may focus on the many reasons why a USB massager would help people who use computers all the time. After all they can be used on a laptop as well as a desktop machine, so point this out and you'll double your potential sales as a result.

Find some news stories about USB massagers and pop those into your lens. You'll soon start coming up with lots of ideas to really make that lens come alive. It may take a while to create a really good lens, but remember that all this is for free. And of course once the lens is set up you will start getting a trickle of traffic to it. Some lens masters have lenses that get hundreds if not thousands of visitors a week! And even if you only get a small proportion of that kind of traffic, you will still be able to funnel some new traffic streams towards your website – completely free of charge.

Oh and by the way, Squidoo also pays out royalties to all lenses every month. So if you have a good one you could earn a few extra dollars for your efforts too. Is not that better than paying for marketing efforts that might not work?
