People email me all the time with the questions because they can not lose weight even though they are doing everything right. Maybe you are one of them. You are thinking: "I calculate calories in all of my food, I calculated my BMR and I eat under that" maintenance level "And I still can not lose weight.

No there is not. If you think there, get it tested. But first I recommend going through this article, you might find that what keeping you from losing fat is not your metabolism, but something little bit different.

Forgetting about Hidden Calories

I think you know what I mean by that. These are the calories that you have either forgotten to calculate or you are not even aware of in the first place. It might be your morning coffee, coke you had in the office, blueberry shake with your girlfriend or whatever else.

Drinks are not zero calories, even though some people still think so. If you drink regularly coffee, coke or something similar, remember to count this in your calorie intake calculations.

What I recommend is to drink only water. That's what I've chosen to do. It may seem hard at first, but know I've never order coke again. Trust me you will never want to go back to drinking coke or soda again. And as a benefit you will get rid of these unwanted calories, which you can enjoy in some delicious meal.

Do not get me wrong I sometimes might have a hot chocolate, coffee or beer as well, but definitely not normally. I think it's always better to get your calories from food than your drinks, do not you think?

Another hidden calorie might be something that you consider "healthy food" like almonds, fruits, honey, and etcetera. These let's call them ingredients are pretty high in calories, so if you do not count them it will screw up your fat loss goal.

Do you see know why I have begun with that specific introduction? It starts to make sense, does not it?

Not Calculating Errors

Do you think that you know exactly what your BMR is? No you do not. You would have to get it tested in a lab, to know the exact number. And that is something that you are probably not able to get.

Do you think that you know exactly how many calories you eat? Again, no you do not. They are only estimates.

Bodybuilders weight their food, because they know that what is on the cover might not be actually true at all. Take muffins as an example, do you think that every muffin has the same exact shape and the same exact weight? Probably not, right?

I do not think that weighting food is something that you should start doing either, I just mean that you need to calculate these errors as well.

The number is not as low as you might think, it can really go up to about 400kcal. Think about it, maybe it's time to add these errors in.

People always search for the best diet. I will make it easy and quick for you. Do you want to know what is the best diet? It's the one that is based on caloric restrictions and works best for you. That's the only one that will help you lose weight and maintain it for the rest of your life.

Diets do not work because they focus on avoiding certain food or even macronutrients, which is a complete nonsense. It's already been proven that the only way to lose weight is by eating less than your body burns.
