A Place to Stay – Leamington Spa – Warwickshire

Leamington Spa or known by the locals at Leam is a spa town. In 1784, Dr Kerr discovered the medicinal properties of the waters. Queen Victoria was fond of the waters. This is the third largest town and named after the River Leam which flows through the town. One scene in Charles Dicken's novel Dombey and Son is set in Leamington Spa – Warwickshire.

This town is full of activities for the traveler. Shopping is a wonderful way to spend the day in Leamington Spa. Most shops line the streets. There is a complete variety of retailers. There is one shopping mall in the area, the Royal Priors.

There are two theaters located in the town which are The Spa Center and The Loft. They offer different productions through the year. The Loft offers outdoor productions through the summer in the Jephson Gardens. This production would definitely be a treat for the visitor.

Each year there is a Peace Festival which celebrates alternative culture and occurs at the Pump Room Gardens. This free entertainment features two areas for music entertainment, offers workshops, activities for the children. There are also over a hundred booths for people representing charities, religious groups, philosophical groups, healers, crafters and traders. This is one event not to miss.

The festival promotes peace and equality for every person and country.

There is the Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum. It is free for the public to enjoy. This art gallery and museum shows works from 17th century paintings as well as 19th to 21st century visual arts collections. The museum includes pieces from major British artists.

Leamington Spa offers the traveler a lot of diverse entertainment throughout the year. A person can get away and enjoy the waters. They can shop, wine and dine or just relax. There are many activities to enjoy in this town.
